Statement of Faith

What We Believe

These core doctrines are the bedrock of East Gate Chapel — unchanged from generation to generation.

The Holy Scripture

2 Timothy 3:16-17

We believe the Bible — both Old and New Testaments — is the divinely inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the supreme rule for all matters of faith and conduct.

The Holy Trinity

Matthew 28:19

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each Person is distinct yet co-equal, co-eternal, and co-substantial.

The Lord Jesus Christ

John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

We believe in the virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and glorious ascension of Jesus Christ. He is the only Saviour of mankind.

Salvation by Grace

Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are the only conditions for salvation.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:4; Acts 1:8

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience subsequent to salvation, evidenced by speaking in other tongues and enduing the believer with power for service.

Divine Healing

Isaiah 53:5; James 5:14-15

We believe that healing for the body is provided in the atonement of Christ. God heals in response to faith and prayer — spirit, soul, and body.

The Church

Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 5:23-27

We believe the universal Church is the Body of Christ, comprising all true believers. The local church is the primary expression of God's Kingdom on earth and the instrument for world evangelism.

The Second Coming

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 19:11

We believe in the personal, visible, and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ. At His coming, the dead in Christ shall rise and believers shall meet Him in the air.

Water Baptism

We also believe in water baptism by immersion as an outward declaration of the inward transformation through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is an act of obedience and public testimony — commanded for all believers.

Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:4
